RSVP of the Pioneer Valley’s Healthy Bones & Balance classes begin in Greenfield
HCG is excited to announce the addition of two new Healthy Bones & Balance classes beginning January 22nd at the Greenfield YCMA. Greenfield joins 27 other sites in the Pioneer Valley in offering this acclaimed program.
The no-cost classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-12pm in the Wellness Room at the YMCA in Greenfield. Two beloved RSVP trained volunteers, Ann McGrath and Marsha Staples-Love, will be leading the new classes.
RSVP, the volunteer connector for people 55 and over in the Pioneer Valley, partners with community organizations to provide free weekly exercise classes for seniors. The Healthy Bones & Balance classes are led by trained RSVP volunteers and designed to increase participants’ strength, mobility, flexibility, and balance.
“The new Healthy Bones & Balance classes are a perfect addition to our existing exercise offerings,” says Jayne Trosin, Fitness, Social Responsibility and Program Director, YMCA Greenfield. “We are excited to expand our class schedule to help older adults stay active.”
RSVP volunteers are part of a network of 600+ community-minded people 55 and over. RSVP staff use a one-on-one approach to connect individual volunteers with service opportunities, which allow them to meet their needs while maximizing their skill sets. Volunteers are matched with the community programs that will benefit the most from their expertise. This hands-on method gives volunteers the opportunity to make a profound impact on the organizations they serve, and allows them to help their communities grow and prosper.
“The volunteers who lead our Healthy Bones & Balance classes have such passion for their service,” says Lindsay Bennett-Jacobs, director, RSVP of the Pioneer Valley. “The benefits of these classes are more than just physical; they also offer an opportunity for socialization, which is often equally beneficial for participants.”
To register for these Healthy Bones & Balance classes, please contact the YMCA in Greenfield. To learn more about other classes in your community please visit hcg-ma.org/healthy-bones-balance-class-schedule.
