Local businesses choose to power their values, support Cancer Connection
In a first of its kind partnership, Hampshire Power is supporting Monte’s Cancer Connection Summercamp by facilitating donations to Cancer Connection for every new contract signed with the local electricity supplier.
“Monte’s Cancer Connection Campout exemplifies how a community can come together to do good,” says Todd Ford, executive director, HCG. “Hampshire Power is proud to be a part of that community and help power the values of our customers.”
Hosted by 93.9 The River, Monte’s Summercamp is taking place on the Old Courthouse Lawn from Wednesday, July 18th through Thursday, July 19th, to raise money to support Cancer Connection.
“HCG generously allows us to use their lawn for the event. The campout wouldn’t be nearly as successful without the use of this location,” says Monte Belmonte. “And for them to give more through Hampshire Power is exceedingly generous. Also, they let us drink on their lawn.”
Cancer Connection is a local nonprofit, who relies solely on independent donations, to provide free services to those diagnosed with cancer, their family members, and caregivers. Donations go directly to facilitating the free programs and services Cancer Connection provides to the community.
“Even a modest donation to Cancer Connection makes a huge impact,” says Cynthia Tarail, public relations, sponsorships, and stewardship manager, Cancer Connection. “All the services we provide are free, and generous community donations allow us to succeed.”
With every signed energy contract, Hampshire Power offers customers a rebate, of up to $75. Historically, area businesses have chosen to have their rebate donated to the United Way of Hampshire County. However, during the month of July, new customers can have their rebates donated to Cancer Connection to enhance their fundraising efforts around Monte’s Summercamp.
Local businesses are already participating. “Switching to Hampshire Power was a simple choice,” says Maura Glennon, owner, Florence Pie Bar. “Getting electricity from a local supplier, while donating to Cancer Connection allows us to put our money back into the local community.”
