Before the final bell rings, make sure your school and art supplies are ordered!
A quick reminder before summer officially arrives! The HCG Purchasing Co-op offers local schools an opportunity to save time, money, and effort through the General School Supplies and Arts & Crafts bids. These bids offer free delivery, with no cost to participate and take advantage of the savings.
Awarded products were chosen by representatives of local schools, who know from experience which items bring the most value to their classrooms and school districts. The two bids contain over 1,500 different products, awarded to 10 vendors.
“Teachers are the experts on the supplies they use every day,” says Ellen Batchelder, director, HCG Purchasing Co-op. “Allowing them to test each item first hand, provides the opportunity to make fully-formed product decisions, given tight school budgets.”
The bid award meetings last March allowed teachers to physically test and evaluate each product and decide which supplies to make available for purchase through these bids.
“These bid award meetings are incredibly beneficial,” says Dave Gleason, a long-time participant from the Northampton Public Schools. “We don’t have to settle for the lowest priced items; we get the quality we are looking for at the best price out there. Physically using the items, not just seeing a picture, really gives us the chance to make the best choices.”
The award meetings also provide a rare opportunity for area teachers to meet face to face and share ideas. The schools who participated in the award meetings included Northampton, Pittsfield, Hampshire Regional, Easthampton, Belchertown and Longmeadow.
The awarded products were chosen through careful consideration to assure the buyer receives the most value for their money. To learn more about how to participate in this bid, please call us or visit hcg-ma.org/purchasing-coop.
